CHAPTER 15
Rosters & Markers
12. BRIGADE ROSTERS, PLAY-AIDS & PRINTABLE TOKEN TEMPLATES
1.0 Roster Architecture & Play-Aid Design
- [ROST-12-1.1] Zero-Bookkeeping Design Principle: This ruleset is engineered to minimize in-game paperwork. While physical stand removal handles regimental losses and miniature cotton puffs represent Disorder and Gunsmoke, these printable roster cards provide a clean, organized command station for each player.
- [ROST-12-1.2] Universal Formats:
- Brigade Command Cards (Quarter-Page Size): Kept next to each player's section of the table or mounted on 4x6 inch index cards. Tracks Brigadier quality, Staff Pip reserves, and the Brigade Faltering Clock.
- Regimental Roster Strips: Optional modular trackers for scenarios with complex traits, specialized weaponry, or ammunition tracking.
- [ROST-12-1.3] Marker Dimensions: All printable tokens are designed for standard 0.75" to 1.0" (20–25mm) round or square punch-outs, compatible with standard craft epoxy stickers, wooden craft discs, or 3D-printed bases.

5.0 Tactical Play-Aid: Range & Measuring Ruler

| Range Band | Description |
|---|---|
| 0" - 4.0" | Point-Blank, Canister, Buck & Ball. Reaction B Closing Fire Trigger Line. |

6.0 Tabletop Marker Guidelines & Crafting Recommendations
- [ROST-12-6.1] Gunsmoke Markers (3D Alternative):
- While card tokens are functional, using 1.0-inch tufts of gray and white polyester fiberfill (pillow stuffing) glued to 1-inch metal washers creates a dramatic 3D visual on the table.
- Placing a puff of smoke in front of a regiment instantly identifies it as having fired, reminds players of the -1 obscuration penalty, and visually turns the tabletop into a historical Civil War battlefield.
- [ROST-12-6.2] Tracking Odd Micro-Hits:
- Rather than using paper sheets, keep a supply of 5mm or 7mm mini colored D6s.
- When a regiment sustains an odd unsaved hit (1 hit), place a micro-dice showing '1' directly behind the Color Stand. When the second hit is sustained, remove the physical stand and remove the micro-dice.
- [ROST-12-6.3] Brigadier Command Base Setup:
- Mount your Brigadier on a 1.0" x 1.0" or round base with two small indentations or magnetic recesses:
- One standard colored D6 to track Current Available Staff Pips (1 to 4).
-
One small red D6 to track Cumulative Brigade Stand Losses for the Brigade Faltering Clock.
-
This completely eliminates the need for off-board roster sheets during play, allowing players to assess the command and morale status of any brigade on the table at a single glance.
